The night seemed colder than usual and the sky was crying, besides that, nothing out of the ordinary. Jack was expecting to go through his main routine, drink, get drunk, kill, repeat until tired, sleep, wake up and repeat. However, as he passed by The Roxy, it felt as if someone was calling him in. Jack had no hits to make tonight, so he figured that he could use some time off.
As Jack entered the Bar he saw it filled with the low level scum that he would place hits on. No one important, just small frys and hustlers, no one the street won't help set right.
Jack sat at a table in the far corner. From where he was sitting he had the perfect view of the Bar, where the door was, where the stage was and where he could order drinks. Jack took a Cigar from his outer coat pocket and reached inside his coat for a lighter, but as he reached for his lighter, he felt a figure slowly appraoching from behind. Jack's hand slowly changed course from his lighter to the gun that was resting inside his coat.
Who ever was behind him had better know what they were doing.

Jessica, under the stage name of Cherry, walked up behind Jack, running her hand along the back of his shoulders, bringing her hand to the front as she faced him. With a light, seductive smirk she put one leg over his lap, seating herself on his lap. "You look tense." she said to him simply, the seductive accent there still. It was all part of the act.

Jack released the gun as the dancer sat herself down.
"You look tense." She said.
Jack didn't say a word, he just studied her, as if she had something else going on inside that mind of hers clouded by her flowing hair. There was something there. He knew that she was the reason he was there that night, but why him? Why this place? Why this girl? Was he meant to take her out? or was he meant to protect her? All he knew was that this girl was the reason he was in the bar.

Jessica looked at the silent man, raising a eyebrow at him "Something wrong, baby?" she asked him, a light smirk still on her lips as she waited for her answer, fiddling with his jacket collar slightly.

Jack snapped back to reality as the Dancer had just touched his collar. Without hesitation Jack's firm yet vice-like grip was now clamped around the wrist of the dancer. He spoke up.
"I don't know who you think you are, but if you try something, anything stupid, you'll be dead before you even hit the floor."
With that he released her arm and finally lit his Cigar.

Cherry stared at Jack as he held her wrist, rubbing it slightly when he let it go. "I'm just trying to do my job." she muttered to him coldly, shifting on his lap as she tried to decide between going to some sleaze or stay with this guy.

Hostility.
Jack knew it was there, and with it, he let a smirk fade onto his face.
"This isn't the real you ... is it ..." He said in an almost inaudible whisper. "You're here because you've got nothing better to get back to, nothing in your life worth it, you're here because life has lied to you and told you that you can do anything if you set your mind to it."
The smirk melted off of Jack's face. "Believe me darling, there are somethings in this life that you are unaware of, but once you hit rock bottom, its all you will experience."
Jack put the Cigar to his mouth, enhaled, tilted his head back and slowly exhaled. The smoke dancing in the lights of the Roxy.
"Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong." He said looking away..

Cherry stared at him as he spoke, taking a moment before answering. "I have something better to get back to. I could leave whenever I felt inclined to do so." she took the cigar from his hand with her petite hand, inhaling, then turning her head away slightly as she exhaled, holding the cigar out to him again. "But I'm to inclined to just yet.." she finished, watching him, emotionless.

Courage.
Another trait of hers that struck a chord in the deep cavernous well that was his heart.
"What made you think that I wouldn't shoot you when you reached for my cigar?" He said looking her in the eyes.
As he made eye contact with her he noticed something about her, there was definently something about her, something different. She wasn't like the other dancers at the Roxy who would constantly smile and flirt with any dirt bag there.
She had purpose.
"You say you can leave when you want, then why don't you? Is it because you know theres nothing better than this? Tell me, what are you aspirations?" Jack said, finally sitting up. "Let me guess, you one day hope that you can become a famous actress and make plenty of money to help out all the little people because you feel that its so right in your heart to do you. You think that clawing your way to the top is the hardest thing about life right now? You think that once you hit the big time that your life will be smooth sailing from there?"
Jack took another toke of his Cigar and exhaled quickly so he could continue speaking. "Let me tell you doll face, I've been to the top, and it aint pretty. You think that the gutter has no mercy? At least in the gutter you can see when people step on you, but when you're in the big leagues, you're too blinded by the lights and the glitter to notice that theres one figure, always lurking in the shadows, waiting to take you out just so they can move on with their life."
Jack looked at her for a little, admiring her strength to endure his conversation without mental exhastion.
"So what are your aspirations?" He repeated.

Cherry stared at him as he spoke, silent for the most part, until he repeated his earlier question. "I want to be an actress, yes, and helping the little people would be something i'd like to do, but unlike a lot of the girls here, I know it isn't smooth sailing at the top. Life isn't about smooth sailing, if it were..Would I be sitting here right now?" she answered him, watching him.

"You seem to have misunderstood me." Jack said placing his hands together. "You see, I did say it wasn't smooth sailing to the top, but what you can't seem to get to grips with is that its what is at the top makes every little situation, detail relationship and hardship seem like a walk in the park. Don't think for one second that just because you've reached the top you can stop and smell the daisies or watch the clouds float by. Its like an avalanche, you keep moving." Jack paused as he leant closer to the Dancer and whispered in her ear. "Unless you feel like dying." He said chuckling dryly, as if he hadn't chuckeled in years.
"Reality is a cold cruel bitch, make sure you wear a coat." He said standing to his feet, dusting off the ash on his coat from his Cigar. Jack began to walk towards the door.

Cherry closed her eyes as Jack whispered to her, opening them as she heard him beginning to walk away. "You ain't even going to stick around for the show?" she asked, partly teasing, a small smirk on her rosey lips. She walked after him slowly "What was the point in coming if you only came to lecture one little dancer?"

Jack stopped walking as she followed him towards the door.
Just like a little puppy. He thought to himself.
Without uttering a word, he simply shrugged and continued making his way towards the exit.

Cherry watched him go, turning to go to the bar. While she was walking, she couldn't help but sneak a glance at Jack, just to see if he was still leaving.

As Jack left the bar the rain had gotten heavier. He lifted his collar and began walking briskly to his car.
He quickly opened his car door and sat down, after wiping the rain off his glasses he started the car.
"How nice of you to join me." He said cracking a faint smile, victoriously.
