Age: 24
Artistic Pursuit(s): Alex doesn’t have an artistic pursuit.
Image:
Appearance: Alex has brown hair, cut short and clean, and brown eyes. He also has a little bit of facial hair. He usually wears suits when he’s working, but when he’s off duty he’s found in a pair of casual drainpipe jeans, a casual black button up shirt and a pair of mildly worn black shoes.
Personality: Alex can be arrogant, and sarcastic, but under this he’s a pretty decent guy. He’s very serious about his job, and doesn’t let anyone or anything stand in his way when he’s working on a case. When he’s off duty however, he’s a friendly guy who loves a good joke. He often teases his friend Kyle, but in the friendliest way possible.
Family: Olivia Karev (mother), Nathan Karev (father)
History:
Alex grew up in Iowa, to a stay at home mother and workaholic detective father. From an early age Alex started to despise his father – his father constantly put him down, and made it obvious he wasn’t proud at all of his son, not yet anyway.
Alex put up with this until he turned 17, when the two had a mass argument, followed by a falling out that to everyone around them seemed inevitable. Alex packed his bags and left home, running away to New York City.
Once in New York City, Alex lived in the lower region for a while, working in the Aces and Spades bar, so he knows his way around town. When he was 18 he joined the police force, intending to work for them and stay at his apartment in the lower region. However, because his job was to bust the people living in the same building as him, and his living situation could turn fatal, his superior’s moved him to a small, but affordable apartment in the upper region for his own safety.
When he was 19 he was assigned a charge, a newcomer from Roswell of all places, named Kyle Valenti. The two became good friends quickly as Alex showed Kyle the ropes of working as a cop in New York. After they’d known each other for nearly a year, Alex introduced Kyle to the Roxy club down in the lower region.
Alex had always thought he and Kyle would get promoted around the same time, as he’d taught him everything he knew, but unfortunately it wasn’t so. Kyle’s enjoyment of the Roxy made his work lack, and so when Alex was promoted to detective, Kyle was still just a patrol cop.
The two remained good friends however, and Alex often accompanies his friend to the Roxy – mostly to keep him out of trouble that would get him kicked off the force.
Soon after his promotion, Alex received a letter from his father about his proud he was of his son. Alex simply burned the letter, never replying. He and his mother still keep in touch, but whenever his mother insists he talks to his father, Alex just hangs up and refuses to speak to him.
Main Talent: Alex doesn’t have a main talent.
Weaknesses: Alex is afraid of turning into his father – a workaholic who ignores his family, and never thinks his own child is good enough for him. He always will help Kyle first, and his responsibility to the force second – he’d do nearly anything for his best friend. He’s a bit of a ladies man too, having a bit of a weakness for the really hot ones.
Strengths: Alex is good at his job, and a strong athlete because of this. He’s a charmer, and can charm most ladies quite easily. He’s a good friend to Kyle, always there for his friend. Because of being among musicians in the lower region, Alex knows a little bit of guitar, but has never pursued this.
Anything Else: He hasn’t seen his parents, or been home to Iowa in eight years.
RP Example:
”She wants me.” he heard Kyle say. Alex snorted, covering it up lamely as a cough, taking a sip of his beer. “Kyle, that wasn’t a compliment.” He said to him, smirking at his friend beside him at the Roxy’s bar. “If it wasn’t, then why’d she waste beer on me?” Kyle said to Alex, trying to outsmart him. Alex, deciding to let him win tonight, rolled his eyes and shook his head. “You’re right, how stupid of me to think of anything else.” He said sarcastically, seemingly not caught by his friend.
