Ruby stared at his arm for a moment before taking it happily.
"Well that depends. Does age matter to a young lady such as yourself?"
She cocked her head to one side, thinking as they walked. Finally coming to a conclusion she shook her head, "Not unless you were younger than me."she answered simply. "Then again, I'm nineteen, I don't come across many people out here who're younger than me." she shrugged, half telling him he had nothing to worry about, and half just answering the question honestly.
"Does age matter to a mysterious man such as yourself?" she returned the question. She looked around at the direction they were going in, it wasn't somewhere she knew which made her curious about it.

Logan grinned as Ruby took his arm, another good choice she'd made tonight.
He laughed when she said it would bother her if he was younger than her. "Oh I think we both know I'm not younger than you." he told her with a smirk. Hearing her real age Logan nodded almost cautiously, she was only nineteen but worked at Roxy. Logan knew then that Ruby definitely had to have knowledge beyond her years from that hole of a place.
Being pulled out of his thoughts, and back to the here and now Logan shook his head at her question, "No it doesn't. Someone once told me life was too damn short to care, so I don't care about the little things. Besides, for someone so young, you may know a lot more than me." Logan told her with a carefree smile.

Ruby chuckled, shooting him a flirty smirk, "Depends what you want to know." she answered, she did tend to specialise in a few closely related areas.
Her mind raced to decipher his answer, he'd said she was so young, that meant he had to be more than a year older than she was. Not that it mattered.
"So Logan, age unknown, what brought you to beautiful New York city?" she asked him, gesturing teasingly to the graffiti'd and rather dark looking streets around them.

"Depends what you want to know."
"Everything.." he whispered into the dark of night. Logan was unsure if she'd heard but he didn't really mind, he was open with most things anyway. He rewarded Ruby's flirtatious behavior with a smirk tugging her slightly closer to him.
"Hmmm what brought me here?" he said aloud for the question to digest in his brain as he chuckled lightly at the graffiti'd wall to their right. "Honestly? Laughter." Logan told her simply, wandering if she would question him further. "And you?"

Ruby thought she'd heard him say 'Everything.' But she couldn't be sure. She decided not to bring it up. She did however notice the subtle tug towards him, she moved with it, not seeing much point in resisting when she clearly didn't mind being close to him.
Ruby chuckled, "You came for laughter?" she asked incredulously, shaking her head a little. "I came to be a dancer, on a big stage with everyone watching. Instead, I got lead dancer for the Roxy, drugs and alcohol." she answered him, "Lifes a bitch huh?" she laughed.

Logan laughed with her; her laugh was like a drug to him, and he needed to hear it more. "Yes I came for laughter." he answered her with a grin once she had finished speaking. "I'm a stand up comedian." Logan told her with a small laugh. "I do my shows at the Montage Theater, it's not too bad, but it's still not uptown eh?"
"Lifes a bitch huh?"
Logan tried to hide his smile but what Ruby said was so, so true for the lower class people. His eyes roved over her again when he heard she was the lead dancer. "At nineteen? Thats somewhat of an accomplishment sweetheart. Gotta take the good with the bad when you can get it eh? As for the drugs and alcohol, its hard not to get caught up in that shit down here."

Ruby nodded, " Stand up comedy eh? Someones the funny guy!" she laughed, "Montage is a good place, but you're right. No where near the glitz everyone wants." she agreed with him.
"At nineteen? Thats somewhat of an accomplishment sweetheart. Gotta take the good with the bad when you can get it eh? As for the drugs and alcohol, its hard not to get caught up in that shit down here."
She nodded again, "I had to do some... less than respectable things to get it, but yeah, I guess it was an achievement." She laughed bitterly, "Hard not to get caught up in it? You got that right." She decided not to mention her first hit had been Max's idea, after their first night together. He wanted a leading lady who could deal with the full part of the Roxy's scene. Now nearly a year later she was the perfect stripper, beautiful, edgy and easily controlled. Max had the cocaine, so he had Ruby.

Logan laughed as she told him he had to be the funny guy and he nodded when he heard her take on the Montage.
"I had to do some... less than respectable things to get it, but yeah, I guess it was an achievement."
That surprisingly didn't matter to Logan. He knew how hard it was on girls in the lower parts of New York and the only thing they could usually get work with was their bodies. Intently, Logan nodded understanding every word and trying not to think of how many old men had taken advantage of someone who was barely legal.
He knew everyone had their stories when it came to addiction or dealing and it seemed that his and Ruby's were somewhat along the same path on the way to the top. "It just comes with the territory of getting up there lil' lady." Logan said pointing in the general direction of uptown with the lights, glitz and glamor.
Logan steered her left and stopped just outside 'Three French Hens.' "We're here." he announced with a grin and gently slipped his arm from hers to let her inside.

Rubys gaze stayed, transfixed by the bright lights of the high life. She'd get there one day, once she got her foot firmly wedged in the door.
She turned her attention to the cafe, the 'Three french hens' he'd said it was called. It was quaint, small and with a rather homely feel.
She stepped inside, glad that the place was comfortingly warm. "It's a nice place. You come here often?" she asked him, everyone had their preferred cafes. It was a good way of getting to someone.
She would take her coat off, but she didn't think her corset would fit in with this scene. She quickly scanned the menu, not that she needed to. Coffee places usually managed to make black coffee.

Logan nodded silently with a smile. He came here so often he might as well just move in. "Do you like it?" he asked sincerely taking in the surroundings for the 1000nth time as he sat down at a booth toward the back. It was one of Logan's favorite; where he usually wrote his script for his shows.
Leaning over he gently took the menu away from her. "Whatever you want, trust me they'll have it. I don't need you worrying about prices either. It's on me." he stated pulling out his wallet. "So what'll you be drinking?" Logan had already made up his mind; tall black, it was the closest thing he could get to a stiff drink until he got home and raided the liquor cabinet.

Ruby slipped into the booth, sitting opposite to him. "The atmosphere's nice." she replyed in answer to his question, settling into the seat. She was being honest, it really did. Almost as if it were an honest haven in a dark and otherwise un-trustworthy world.
"Whatever you want, trust me they'll have it. I don't need you worrying about prices either. It's on me."
"Oh aren't you quite the gentlemen," she chuckled, "I'll be having an Espresso, thanks." She breathed on her hands to try and warm them up, the cafe was slowly doing the job, but Ruby wasn't one for patience. She rubbed them together, the heat caused from the friction only lasted a few seconds. It was hardly worth the effort just to keep them warm for a few seconds, if that.
She placed them on the table, quickly scanning the place one more time before moving her blue eyes onto him. It was almost as if she were x-raying him. Taking in his features, the way he sat and trying to get any information she could about Logan from appearances. She didn't look displeased, more curious, the corners of her mouth slipped subtly into a smile.

"Oh aren't you quite the gentlemen,"
"I try." Logan said with a laugh and nodded at her order of an espresso. "Mmm good strong drink." he joked. "Think I might get myself one as well."
Noticing Ruby furiously trying to warm her hands Logan went to place his over top of hers, until he noticed her staring at him. He retracted his hands before they even graced the soft skin of hers, and raised one to his lips. With a worried look he thumbed his lips, "What? Ketchup? Mustard?" a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, "Lipstick?"
Logan wasn't at all self conscious he just couldn't quite handle the intensity of Ruby's blue eyes tearing him apart, looking him inside and out, as if she could see his past, his secrets.

Ruby giggled, her gaze becoming warmer, less intense than it had been before. "No, theres nothing. Honestly!" she laughed. Her laugh was one of the few things left about her that betrayed she was mostly still a kid. Well, a kid compared to the 25 and 23 year olds that wandered around New York. It sounded sweet, a totally innocent sound that came from a girl that was anything but.

"Okay then." Logan said with a suspicious but joking look at Ruby as he raised an eyebrow. He loved her laugh. It seemed to be the only god damn innocent thing in this darkest of cities. It warmed Logan's heart and he couldn't get enough of it.
The waitress interrupted Logan from speaking as she popped over to take their orders. "And what can I do for you guys tonight? Such a nice couple, don't see too many of those round here now." the waitress mused. Logan went bright red and shook his head wanting the ground to open up, "Ah no, we're- we- uh." All coherent words evaporated from his mind before he remembered what Ruby ordered. "2 espressos. Please." The waitress nodded with a grin and walked away. Logan daren't look at Ruby in case she looked terrified at what the waitress thought of them. He didn't want to deny being a couple; Logan would love it if it were true, but he didn't also want to offend Ruby in anyway by not denying it. Either way, he was screwed.

"And what can I do for you guys tonight? Such a nice couple, don't see too many of those round here now."
Ruby bit her lip, holding her breath. She knew that if she did anything right now, it would be laughter. She looked up at the ceiling, chuckling at how awkward it would be if either of them said the wrong thing right now.
"Ah no, we're- we- uh."
As the waitress went to walk away Ruby smiled politely at her, "Thankyou." she said, watching her retreating back before turning to Logan. Grinning she casually shredded one of the napkins, "Maybe she's right." she mused, pushing the napkin shreds away from her.
She was practically in her element, pushing the boundaries of every situation, taking everything one step furthur. It was almost like a game of russian roulette but with relationships.
