Logan wanted to smash his head against the table as the Ruby smiled at the waitress. He knew that particular waitress, she had a small thing for Logan. The two were friends, but that was all. It was clear she was trying to embarrass him in front of Ruby; hopefully messing up his chances with her. It's not like she was the vindictive type, she just liked to rub Logan up the wrong way sometimes.
"Maybe she's right."
Snapping his head up so fast Logan grimaced as a nerve twinged in the back of his neck. He stared Ruby in the eyes, trying to detect if she was lying or completely joking. Not having the knack for reading people he gave up and stared at his hands not knowing what to make of her comment. Logan felt a little uneasy knowing Ruby's eyes would be on him, so he scrapped up the shreds of napkin she had already torn, and started to tear them even smaller.
She was a quick one this girl; the constant daring attitude seemed to linger over her. Taking a shot at that attitude Logan wandered what she thought.
"Really now? Would you like her to be right?"

Rubys eyes narrowed a bit as he looked down at his fidgeting hands, the shreds of napkin being cruelly torn apart even more. It annoyed her immensely, she hated being ignored. She was used to being paid just to be pretty to look at and watch.
Her hands gently closed over his, stopping the fidgeting.
"Really now? Would you like her to be right?"
The corners of her mouth twitched, like she was trying hard to be serious but not really accomplishing it. It felt like she was being tested almost. "Yes." she answered simply, leaning forward to give him the full blast of her blue orb-like eyes. Waiting for his answer. The ball was in his court now, whatever way it went Ruby would roll with it. She played games for a living.

Logan smiled at the familiar warmth of Ruby. It was just the trick, and he stopped fidgeting immediately. Instead he turned his attention to her hands, taking Ruby's in his and caressing them softly as he looked up at her; swimming in those blue eyes again.
"Well then, lil' lady," Logan said leaning over the table slightly, "I hope you know what you're lettin' yourself in for." His face was straight and completely serious. If he was going to let her in, she had to know. It was a fact that dealers in New York with girlfriends didn't have them too long unless they were mighty fine at protecting them from their customers. Logan had heard about cases where customers who couldn't pay and were absolutely desperate for another hit, went after the dealers friends and loved ones. If Ruby was up for it, he would do everything he could to look after her.
Staring straight back into her enormous piercing blue eyes, Logan settled himself back in his seat, waiting for his answer. He knew it seemed slightly odd and rushed but Logan figured Ruby wasn't the type of girl who liked being left in the dark at all.

She looked down at their hands, smiling softly.
"Well then, lil' lady,", "I hope you know what you're lettin' yourself in for."
She looked up at him, opening her mouth to speak she noticed the waitress coming back, for some reason watching them. Was she waiting to see what the nicest couple in town woud do next?
Putting her hand on his cheek she leant in towards him, putting her lips to his ear so that when she talked they would lightly brush his skin she whispered, "I always do." Kissing him on the cheek gently placed her hand back in his somewhat reluctantly. She liked being close to him, it was one of the reasons she'd agreed so readily. He made her feel so safe. So does Tyler... she thought inwardly, furiously trying to brush the thought away.

Logan was oblivious to to the waitress, who now had one hand on her hip and the other holding their coffees on a tray. As Ruby leaned into him, Logan closed his eyes trusting her to do him no wrong. His moment of a weakness that he knew a dealer should never show. Trust was a thing that needed to be earned, so why did it come so naturally when he was with Ruby? Logan was right to trust her however, as he leaned into the kiss upon his cheek.
"I always do."
When Ruby backed away Logan's eyes fluttered open and he nodded slowly. Hiding his grin for her readiness, he just continued to rub her hands gently. They were the softest he'd ever held and right now he didn't want to let go.
Anne; the waitress came over and put their coffees in front of them. She scowled slightly, tilting her head to the side and looking at Ruby then Logan before leaving.
"Well, well." Logan whispered softly, "I think someone's jealous."

Ruby nodded, glancing over at the moodily retreating back of their waitress. She chuckled, "Who wouldn't be..." she replied, taking her coffee and blowing on it before sipping it. Her eyes couldn't help but give the waitress a critical once over, "Why do I get the feeling she's not really your type though?" she asked him, smirking a little.
Inwardly her mind raced, she wasn't going to tell Max about Logan, but he'd find out soon enough anyway. She just hoped that neither she or Logan were around when he did.

Logan laughed heartily at Ruby's comment about Anne not being his type. He shook his head with a grin plastered on his face. "I don't know, she gets like that. I guess you could say I like girls with a little more edge." he stated nodding slightly to the costume that was hidden away under her coat. 'God help me.' He couldn't stop thinking about it; about her in general really. Logan was the type that was hard to keep occupied for long, but tonight his attention was all for Ruby.
Silently he took his coffee sipping it as well, watching the steam rise off it making intricate swirling patterns. Logan looked over to Ruby again wandering what she was thinking about, as he thought of what he would do when their coffees were finished and 'Three French Hens' would close. 'Invite her back to my place? No! Nooooo. Walk her home though.'

Ruby looked down at her coat, realising just in the nick of time he wasn't actually talking about her coat, rather what it hid. She smirked a bit, at least he owned up to loving it. She hated it when guys tried to act like they didn't.
She sipped some more of hers, looking at him through the light smoke. She was usually an 'all of the way at first glance' kinda girl, but this guy wasn't just a one night money maker. He was -hopefully- going to stick around. Something she wasn't used too.
Raising an eyebrow she sat back in her seat, fanning herself. "Do you think it's warm in here?" she asked him innocently, un-doing the first button of her jacket, turning it into more of a scandalous plunging neckline.

Logan swallowed dryly as Ruby undid the first button on her jacket. Finding his words he nodded like an idiot, "Definitely too hot for a lady such as yourself."
He took a quick look around and was pleased to see that the coffee house was relatively empty apart from them, another couple and the staff waiting for them to leave. He saw the ticked off look all the women had at the counter, as they all thought of Logan as a friend of sorts. The glares he got started to unnerve him slightly. Quickly finishing the rest of his coffee and looking Ruby up and down he propositioned her. "Would you like me to walk you home? I could even offer you my jacket if you get cold mademoiselle."
Logan was now buying time with her. Of course like any other hot blooded male wanted to venture beneath that coat, but not here. He had dignity and knew Ruby did to, so maybe if Logan took her home, they could arrange to meet again.

She nodded, drinking the rest of her coffee she stood up. Seeing the glares of the woman at the counter she smirked at them, subtly moving the side of her coat to reveal a well sculpted, fish netted leg. She raised her eyebrow at them in a mildy challenging way before dropping the act and turning to Logan. "Thanks! I do get really cold... especially at night..." she chuckled, leaning against the edge of the table as she waited for him to leave with her, "When I'm all alone..." her voice trailed off and she giggled at him. She was rarely alone at night, but she was sure he'd get her drift. Much as it was a somewhat cruel sport, teasing guys was one of her talents. She would back down soon, it was more her way of testing character. If they gave in on the first date then they wouldn't get much further, they could just pay her from the Roxy. ((And I test him because i can. ))

Logan, saw this 'subtle' well placed movement of Ruby's coat, although he wandered if she knew he did. Shaking his head and laughing to himself he watched as the waitresses expressions changed for the worse.
"Thanks! I do get really cold... especially at night..."
"Well then, I'm here to be your portably heater." Logan said with a chuckle. He got up and moved in front of Ruby leaning closely into her. "Shall we then?" Logan asked softly; in barely a whisper. Instead of sticking out his arm this time, he held out his hand for Ruby. "Or unless, you know, you would prefer my arm."
Standing there, waiting for Ruby's decision, Logan wandered if what he was doing here, with her tonight was right. He already dreaded for her safety if people; mainly his customers, found out she was with him. 'Stop. Breathe. I'll cross that damn bridge when I come to it.' Logan thought to himself as he forced the best smile he possibly could for Ruby, while his stomach went numb.

"Or unless, you know, you would prefer my arm." "I want the hand." she chuckled. Ruby took his hand, walking out of the cafe with him and shooting one more smirk over at the waitresses before the cold night air hit her like a fist.
She moved in closer to him, her small body already starting to shiver slightly. She let go of his hand, slipped his arm around her resting her head on his shoulder, "Sorry, but you're warm." she explained, giggling. She usually just expected to get her own way, she wasn't used to people saying 'no'. "I'm guessing you're the presidential apartments type?" she asked him, as she was subtly moving them in that direction anyway.

Logan grinned as Ruby led him out; he liked a woman who wasn't afraid to take the lead with him. 'Her boots are made for walking...' Logan thought comically to himself trying to forget about the numb feeling in his stomach. Quickly having a glance down at her footwear, he was a little disappointed to see stilettos, but he still thought they were very sexy and any woman who could walk in them for longer than five minutes was a goddess.
Logan inhaled the cold air of lower New York, with a grimace. Fog had already set in over the low parts of the city and was blocking out the stars, just as it always did. Ripped from his thoughts he turned to Ruby to see his arm being pulled around her waist.
"Sorry, but you're warm."
"No, no. By all means go right ahead." he said to her with a smirk. He then answered her question with a nod. "How ever did you know?" he said with a laugh. It was hard to point out someone who wasn't living in the presidential apartments. Hardly no one from upper New York ever ventured down this way, unless it was for drugs. "So what floor am I escorting you to?" Logan asked with that certain charm that didn't sound the least bit sleazy.

Ruby laughed, "Possibly because of your rugged charm?" she answered him, grinning.
She looked up at the decaying building, finding her own window. "I'm on the Fourth floor." she answered him, wondering why she left her window open, her apartment yould be freezing now.
"What floor do you call home?" she asked him, her eyes inadvertently scanning to where Tylers apartment was. Was he home?
She pulled her eyes away from his window and scanned the building thoughtfully, "It's funny, you'd think living in the same building we'd have met before now. I never even saw you round." she commented.

"Possibly because of your rugged charm?"
Logan jokingly ran a hand along his jaw line. It was a little rough with patches of stubble but he didn't really mind too much. Really who was he trying to impress before tonight?
Looking up to the fourth floor he nodded then pointed straight ahead, "Level one for me, because I'm just so lazy." He chuckled lightly looking down at her with the same friendly smile he'd shown her all night.
"It's funny, you'd think living in the same building we'd have met before now. I never even saw you round."
Logan had seen her a couple of times; in fact he'd run into her once but that was it. Apart from that Ruby had never uttered a word to him, so he kept living down on the first floor, catching glances of her as she'd rush off to work, or sneak a client back up to her apartment. "Yeah, very funny."
